Update, Week of May 14thMay 15th, 2012 8:42pm - Posted By: Connie
We are certainly starting out the season with a bang! It's event central around here. We worked a very successful event last week (look for next week's newsletter for more about that!), and are excited to be preparing for a fund raising event with White Wave food company, this Friday, May 18th. Then, the very next day, on Saturday the 19th, we'll have the bus at a Girl Scout Celebration. For a brand new food truck, working events like this is great exposure, and our summer calendar is filling up faster than a debutant's dance card! (Don't ask where that came from. I might be delirious.) Unfortunately, since we are still such a small operation, it also means that we are off the road this week so we can prepare. I know. I'm sorry. Please don't whine. BUT, don't despair! We will be back out on the streets of Boulder (and surrounding areas) the week of May 21st, and will be sure to post our route and menu here this Friday, May 18th.
IF YOU WANT TO BE A PRIORITY STOP ON OUR WEEKLY ROUTE, OR IF YOU'VE GOT AN EVENT COMING UP THAT YOU WANT US TO BRING THE BUS TO, PLEASE LET US KNOW! Our calendar is filling up quickly for the summer. :-) Yipeee!!!!
We are delighted to bring good food & a splash of purple to you!
From a recent customer: "I really enjoyed my lunch from Go Purple Bus yesterday. The chicken wraps were delicious and the frozen yogurt was easily some of the best I've ever had...I look forward to trying some of your other flavors. Please come back to Gunbarrel soon!" - Christine

Last Saturday, we got to participate in the 63rd Street Farm's Earth Day celebration. IT WAS GREAT! We had such a great time, and were reminded (again) of what we love about this crazy business we've chosen. Here's what I mean.... Launching a food truck buisness is hard work. We've had plenty of challenges, and know we'll have plenty more. So be it. Because here's the thing: We get to work with and serve happy, positive, enthusiastic people who share our values about making a positive impact on our world through a focus on community. People like....
This is me (Connie) with Amanda. She and her husband own the lovely little slice of heaven that is the 63rd Street Farm. In addition to providing food to the Boulder community, the farm offers a Retreat Center that hosts sustainable programs, educational retreats, permaculture classes and other workshops that revolve around the overwhelming conversation of creating a sustainable future. Awesome.
At the festival, we parked the bus right next to Settembre Cellars, who was handing out tastings of their old-world styled wines, crafted from Colorado grapes. If you've never sampled wine from this small family winery, you must. They are making some really great wine. And, if you live in Boulder, they will even deliver your wine to your door via bicycle delivery service.
And then there were those who came out for the celebration. We served over 100 delicious wild blueberry frozen yogurt cones to people teeming with spirit for the upcoming growing season at this Community Supported Agriculture farm.
There was hula hooping and baby animals, laughter and fun.
It was a GREAT Saturday. Dont' forget to check out where we'll be this week! We update our route plans and menu every Friday. See you soon! Join us on Saturday, April 21st for Plant a Tree Day at the lovely 63rd St. Farm in Boulder! Come on down and plant a tree and learn about CSA food shares.
PLUS - we'll be serving up wild blueberry frozen yogurt cones from 1-4. Do something good for our world, learn about sustainable farming, enjoy the beautiful spring weather while savoring the best frozen yogurt this side of.... well, this side of anything (if we do say so ourselves). We can't think of a better way to spend a Saturday.
Here's where to go: Since its conception in 2005 the 63rd. St. Farm has had the intention of developing community by promoting health and wellness through Permaculture. With this intention it has been part of our model to not only provide food but to provide our guests with an environment that is conducive to health, wellness and a sustainable future. It's a lovely place.

The Top 6 Things We've Learned From Our First Few Days Out On The Streets of Boulder: 1. Boulder people rule. Ok, ok... maybe it's Colorado people in general. But seriously, we've met some great people. Kind, considerate, friendly and enthusiastic people. People that have reminded us why we wanted to start this business in the first place.
2. Chicken Paprikash is the bomb! Enough said.
3. Wherever we go, we get a "Wow. When are you coming back?" This is great, but the challenge is being available to a lot of companies & individual in a small window of time (lunch 11:30 - 1:30). So, we've realized the need to set priority locations. If you want to be a priority stop - please e-mail us at info@gopurplebus.com.
4. Spring weather in Colorado is about as close to perfect as you can get, especially when you're out and about and working hard.
5.Having great co-workers is absolutely essential when you work in very close quarters!
6. We're positively scandalized by the number of people want to take us home with them! To keep our good-girl reputation, we've decided to prepare a limited amount of "to-go dinners for 4". So far, our Chicken Paprikash (our version of chicken & dumplings) has been a HUGE take-out hit! So if you'd rather spend your evening enjoying the incredible spring weather than cooking, take some home with mixed organic greens and some apple crisp. (Pre-ordering is not necessary - but a really, really good idea: info@gopurplebus.com.)
If you haven't stopped by yet to say hello and sample some food, we hope to see you soon! Begining in April, we will begin following a more regularly scheduled route. Stay tuned here and on facebook and twitter for route details! Our first couple of days on the road was a huge success. THANK YOU!!!!!! We were able to connect with enough folks in the community to start scheduling our routes, events and corporate catering. We've been getting wonderful e-mail requests all week! Being out on the streets of Boulder, talking with people and letting them try our food, was so much fun and such great experience for our entire team, that we are planning to get out there and do it again soon. So, if you missed us this time around, we hope you come out and see us then.
In the meantime, here's a handful of photos from our big launch:
And, we're off! Those happy faces on the back of the bus... that's pretty much how we looked inside the bus. We were so excited to get out there!
Sandy, our fearless bus driver!
Pulling in to one of our first stops...
People were lining up for free samples right away!
We handed out mini take-out boxes of Beef Stew, Chicken Paprikash and Apple Crisp. And, of course, we also handed out plenty of samples of...
Frozen yogurt! Black Cherry and Tart Vanilla. Lucky for us, we had great weather both days we were out. The frozen yogurt was a BIG hit.
We worked hard...
And tried not to get in each other's way...
And generally had a really, really great time.
To everyone who stopped by to say hellp and sample some treats, THANK YOU!
Thank you...
Thank you!

We just returned from a trip to Berkeley, CA (Yes, that's Connie and Shari and sister Cindi on moter scooters) where we soaked up the strong sense of community and focus on social responsibility that seems to just seep into you when you're there.
Here's the thing. We realized that we love Colorado for the many of the same reasons.
Here are just a few reasons why we LOVE Colorado:
We love Colorado because... there are 4 seasons and still more than 300 days of sun! We even love out quirky, never-know-what-you're-going-to-get weather.
We love Colorado because... there is amazing enthusiasm and zeal for and in the entrepreneurial community.
We love Colorado because... there are so many people focused on how to improve their communities… and the world.
We love Colorado because... well, just look out the window! We have the most incredible geography. Seriously. No one in Colorado can possibly be bored unless they want to. There is always another trail to hike and another mountain to climb.
We love Colorado because... Red Rocks!
We love Colorado because... of all the amazing art communities! The Santa Fe art district, and Cherry Creek Arts Festival, and Tennyson Street Art Walk….
We love Colorado because... we have so many fabulous farmers markets and organic producers. We are sooooo spoiled.
BUT - do you know what our #1 reason to love Colorado is???? Because (according to 5280) Colorado is an ICE CREAM MECCA. Oh yeah. This is the place for us.
Why do you love Colorado????? Leave us a comment and let us know. Posted in: NoneView / Add Comment | 0 Comment(s) | Rating: 0 of 5 | Share: Twitter, Facebook, Google +Ready Or Not, Here We Come!February 8th, 2012 7:03am - Posted By: Connie and Shari

In the kitchen. We are looking for 2-3 people that are interested in 15-20 hours per week between the hours of 9-2 Mon-Fri. You must love cooking and be good at food production details. We will train.
On the road. We are looking for 2-3 people that have a great desire for a job that allows LOTS of self-expression. There is some flexility in the hours, but generally our events occur between 10-5 during the week. There will be a requirement for some weekends & evenings - especially our big splash at the Boulder Creek Fest over Memorial Day weekend 2012 and other summer events. You will be the first impression our customers get (in addition to our great food, of course!). We play cool music, and will encourage you to burst into song if you are so inclined. We will train, and will look closely at those folks that love serving the public.
Drivers. We are looking for 2 people that have a desire to look good behind the wheel of our bus - and get paid to get their Commercial Driver's License (CDL). We will train! This position can also double as one of the cool people that serve our customers.
